It wasn’t too long ago that I was just a random beginning blogger, writing just to say my piece. Through minimal promotion I gained some loyal readers who were good to me, I did some guest posts, and I branched out. I caved to the Twitter nation, starting an account for my blog, then I caved to the Facebook lure and made a Facebook page for both my blogs. Before long I was asked to join Q on a Blog Talk Radio show, I networked on twitter, met some great writers, and was asked to join several groups on Facebook. For the purposes of this post I will focus on one. The Dating Bloggers group.
I write about a lot of things but as you know I’m fascinated with relationships, love, sex, and fidelity. I write about it a lot so this group fit me. The women I met there are brilliant, strong, confident, sexy, and hell bent on helping one another. This group has taken off, supporting on another, and pushing me to expand my reach. I joined Google+, Triberr, Klout, and a few other sites to help promote my writing and my voice. Through this group I’ve ‘met’ a lot of inspirational women and have recently been given the opportunity to write a post for the launch of a new website.
Chiara, of Chiara Says is co-founder of The Indie Chicks site, Indie in this case standing for Independent. What is The Indie Chicks? I’ll let her answer that because she did it so beautifully.
“The Indie Chicks is an online magazine for passionate, ambitious women craving inspiration, motivation, and a community of life-minded chicks. Our Indie Chick has a go-getter, do it yourself, hunger for life.”
What’s more she thinks I’m an Indie Chick! *swoon* Though I had no idea at first what I could write about she assured me that I was exactly what they were looking for in a writer for the site and I got to work on a post, determined not to let her down. My goal was to have a post ready for the launch of their site, May 1st, yup, today. I’m happy to say I was able to do just that. Please head over to the new website for the launch of what is sure to be a great site. Browse the site and look for my post. Be sure to leave a comment, re-tweet the link, share/like it on Facebook and help support a great site.
What’s my point here? My point is, don’t be afraid to take some risks when following your dreams. I’ve never wanted anything more in life than to write and here I am, writing. I never would have imagined my hobby leading me to where it has today, meeting great people, making wonderful friends, and connecting with people on a whole new level, but I am thrilled that it has! I stand behind my writing, behind my opinions, and my decisions. Have faith in your ability, in your passion, in your dreams and there is no telling where life can take you. I have found so much strength in myself, belief that my dreams are attainable, and that my friends, is priceless.
Be sure to check out the amazing women dedicated to making sure other women do the same!
I am a proud Indie Chick.

LOVE!!! Yeehaw! *shooting celebratory rifle in air*! So proud and happy for you!
YAY for the pop off! lol. Thanks so much, doll.
Me too, me too! And I also swooned a fair bit when asked. I’m going to go check out your Indie post now, high five fellow Indie Chick!
I loved your article!!!! love love love! I pimped it a couple places. I absolutely freaked out when I was offered the chance. High five, my fellow Indie Chick!
Congrats on your new venture!!!! Thanks so much for the inspiration. As a new blogger myself, it’s great to hear that people actually reach their dreams.
I never thought this is where I would end up, but after I started blogging I have done a LOT of things I never thought I would, including being 71k words into my first novel! There is no end to what is possible if you believe in yourself.
Congrats! That’s so exciting! I struggle with self-promotion and linking up through other sites, but this is good inspiration! Can’t wait to check it out!
Thanks so much, Becca. It didn’t come naturally to me, pimping myself like that, but it has paid off! I’m glad that I have because if I’d stayed in my comfort zone I am sure a lot of this would not be happening.
Congrats! Heading over for a visit now.
Thanks so much for contributing to my traffic over there! I appreciate all the support.
See I never really wanted to write. In fact I always hated writing, but I find myself in a stage of life that I have a lot to say. This is an outlet, and if people find it amusing, or want to laugh at my insanity then I am okay with that!
lol I love your insanity and we laugh with not at you.
I have always loved writing, which I suppose is enough to make me a writer, but this has really solidified for me that I may just have something here.
It’s a very exciting time to be me.
Great post, Jewels! We are lucky to have you and blessed to have met you. You’re a talented inspiration and we are officially welcoming you on as a columnist!
Thank you so much. It’s been pretty cool seeing my writing on such an amazing site. The hard work you put into it is VERY apparent. Congratulations on a job well done and a FANTASTIC launch!
Jewels, you are doing amazing things! Congrats on all you’ve accomplished. Keep ‘em coming!
Thank you, Sue, that means a lot. I promise to keep up the good work.
“Nothing risked, Nothing gained!” A dream and talent will only get you so far…it takes courage and action to create something special! And special you ARE!
I love your comment! I couldn’t agree more…our dreams don’t come to us we work towards them. Thank you so much for the support here and at my article today.

So glad you made it over. I can’t stop going back to check out little nuances of the site!
I love her too and am more than happy to spread the word on a great site to empower women.
Wow, the site looks great Jewels, and I loved your article. Congrats and great job! Proud of you
My love, that means a lot to me. Thank you so, so, so much! Big HUGS to you…mainly cause I wanna squish against your bubbies…just saying.
I’m so bloody happy that you are pulling out the stops with getting your voice out there, love. I cannot tell you enough how talented of a writer you are, and truly more people should be exposed to your brilliant voice. I’m still pretty techno-fail–can’t figure out the tribe thing for shit–but anything that you can think that I can do to help, you know you’ve got it. =)
I figure the only way to do it is to commit and really do it. It’s taking up every second of free time to network, support my writing buddies, and write new material. My eyes are often blurry and tired but my soul is fed and happy. Having a friend like you to go to for advice and support is priceless to me, dear! HUGS!
I’m a fellow indie chick and found your post on the site. Love it. Love your message.
Welcome, Whitney! I adored your post at Indie Chicks and commented as much. I’m also following you on twitter. I am always looking for quick workouts and a kick in the butt. I hope I can depend on you for just that kind of inspiration.
I am super proud of you Jewels, and all of your amazing words! Your post at Indie Chicks was awesome! I will be cheering you on all the way, you know that!
I know you will be and I appreciate it SO much!
Thank you. Giant HUGS.
